I love bird watching. Either sitting on the patio and watching the birds around the feeders or simply leaning against a window inside and gazing out at the beautiful creatures. I’m not sure why I am so attracted to birds. Perhaps it’s because of their simple lives. Or their natural instinct for survival. For whatever reason, I love them—which means I feed them well 🙂
I purchase the good stuff—sunflower meats. I wouldn’t want my sweet birds to have to break apart those hard sunflower seeds, much too much work for those gorgeous creatures. So I make it easy for them. Consequently, they flock to my feeders.
I was at the store the other day and saw an amazingly tasty looking birdseed. It had fruit and nuts in it as well as those sunflower seeds. What a treat! I purchased it and filled their favorite feeder with the fancy new seed. Guess what? The birds stopped coming! I waiting 2.5 days and couldn’t take it anymore. I dumped the fancy seed out and refilled with the sunflower meats. Guess what? The birds returned. Somehow, that fancy birdseed repelled the birds. This notion got me thinking about 2Tim2:20-21.
Depending on what we fill our vessel with, we may attract or repel people. I know my aim is to attract people with the fragrance of Jesus 2Cor2:14. So I’m going to stay away from the fancy seed!
