Book Review – Menu for Romance

I read Menu for Romance by Kaye Dacus recently. This was my first Kaye Dacus book and I was wowed!

Back cover copy : After eight years of unrequited love, Meredith Guidry decides it’s time to move on and try to find someone who’ll love her in return. So she makes a prayerful New Year’s resolution to meet someone new and end her single status by year’s end. And when the handsome contractor she hires to finish remodeling her house asks her out, it looks like her prayer may have been answered. But dating Ward doesn’t seem to do anything to lessen Meredith’s feelings toward a certain chef she works with everyday.

Executive Chef Major O’Hara has sworn off relationships, knowing he could never saddle the woman he loves with a family situation like his. When he’s offered the opportunity of a lifetime–to open his own restaurant–will he leave his comfortable job and Meredith–to chase his lifelong dream? And when it looks like he’s about to lose Meredith Guidry to another man, can he concoct a menu for romance to win her back?

Will God serve up a solution before it’s too late?

Me again : I enjoyed seeing Meredith and Major both go through internal journey’s separate from the romance. Though the romance was fun, it was nice that the book held more depth than a simple romance.

I loved Kaye’s writing style–almost like a stream of consciousness. Putting the book down at bedtime was hard many times And I loved all the conflict and turmoil she foisted upon her characters.

There are three books in this series – this was book number two. Kaye also has written a historical series titled The Ransome Trilogy. She also has a series named The Matchmakers, coming out in 2010. Check out Kaye’s website for free giveaway’s!

Kaye has written a solid romance and I’m looking forward to reading more of her books. If you haven’t read a romance in awhile, pick up Menu for Romance and enjoy!
