Happy New Year – Genesis 1

My reading for 2010 is the Bible in chronological order – pray that I’ll keep to it DAILY or it won’t happen…

This morning as I read the first chapter of Genesis, I noticed God’s attributes–or rather the attributes He didn’t have. He wasn’t harried or frazzled. Details from His TO DO list were directly related to His task at hand–creation. He exemplified patience, careful planning and perfection among many others.

Don’t get me wrong. I see how detailed He is with creation. God is definitely organized and concerned with details. But the details He concerns himself with are related to his task at hand.

See where I’m going? In reading this, it occurred to me–again–how concerned I am with details that simply don’t matter in my life. This point keeps coming to me. I tend to be harried and frazzled, not patient and peaceful. Something for me to pray about.

  1. Great post, Heidi. I read the same thing this morning. Another thing I noticed is his affirmation that his work was good. Not once does it say God saw that it was junk. Of course, he’s God and has oodles of self-confidence, but it reminded me that if I’m giving a project my all, then I should be satisfied with the outcome and not stress over it. I pray you will find peace and patience in the details. 🙂
